About

Julie Burke is an Australian visual artist working across photography, drawing, and ceramics. Her practice moves between attentive observation of animals and landscape and a critical engagement with the everyday- the worked animal, the lived-in street, the overlooked encounter. Across media, the work holds use and refusal, familiarity and discomfort, allowing labour, repetition, and contradiction to remain visible.

She also undertakes commissioned photographic work with horses and animals, on location, with attention to personality, movement and environment.
